Padel for beginners in Aarhus
Padel is easier to get started with than most other racket sports. You don’t need to learn how to serve or hit the back line. You just hit the ball, and the walls make sure it comes back.
If you’ve never played before, here’s the practical information: what you need to bring, how much it costs, and how to book your first session at Padel Lounge Aarhus.
You don’t need to be a member to give it a go
You create an account in the booking system, book the session you want to play, and pay for it. That’s it. There’s no commitment and no membership until you decide for yourself that you’re playing often enough for it to be worth it.
The minimum booking is 60 minutes. That’s also roughly how long it takes to warm up and get into the swing of things.
What should you bring with you?
Indoor shoes and clothing that allow you to move around freely. Bats can be hired at the centre, and balls can be bought on site, so you don’t need to invest in equipment to find out if you like the sport.
How to play
Padel is usually played by four people, two against two, on a doubles court. The court is enclosed by glass walls and a net, and the ball may hit the walls after it has touched your half of the court. It is this rule that makes the game easy to get started with: the ball stays in play for much longer than in tennis.
The serve is delivered underhand and below hip height. This means that no one is served out of the court on the first day, and that the rally begins straight away.
Points are scored as in tennis: 15, 30, 40, game. Most people get the hang of it after the first set.
How much does the first hour cost?
| Track | Time period | Track hire rate per hour | Price per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Doubles court (4 players) | Mon–Thu 05.00–15.00 | 178 kr. | 44.50 kr. |
| Doubles court (4 players) | Mon–Thu 16:00–22:00 | 298 kr. | 74.50 kr. |
| Singles (2 players) | Mon–Thu 05.00–15.00 | 128 kr. | 64 kr. |
If you’re just having a go, daytime hours are both the cheapest and the least busy. See the full price list in the guide How much does it cost to play padel in Aarhus?
Four or two players?
If there are four of you, book a doubles court. It’s both the cheapest option per person and the easiest way to play when none of you have tried it before — you don’t have to run as far, and there’s always a partner to watch.
If there are just the two of you, you can book the singles court. It’s narrower and the game is played at a faster pace, so it’s a bit more demanding on your legs. There’s only one of them in Aarhus, so you’ll need to book it well in advance.
Would you like a coach to be there right from the start?
It isn’t necessary, but it makes the first few lessons easier. Jonas Kruse teaches classes in Aarhus, from beginner to advanced level. Find out more on the page about Padel training in Aarhus.
